If you’re not aware, DriveThru allocates medals to products based on the number of sales. Their highest medal, Adamantine, is given to products that have sold more than 5000 copies. Only 180 products have crossed this threshold. Let's take a quick look at them.
Good stuff. I remember the first time I really dug into some of the actual numbers behind those metal tiers and was shocked.
Always good to see some real data in a visual format like that. 👏👏
Something I’ve just started sifting through is the various set ups like Chaosium’s Miskatonic University, Free League’s FL Workshop etc to see which games have the most products and highest selling products for third party creators.
Thank you! Glad you like it. I think it might be interesting to expand the dataset and see if there's more interesting charts to be made but I wanted to just dip a toe in and see if folks wanted more.
The third-party platforms like FL Workshop is a total blindspot for me. I have no idea how big they are, etc. Would love to know more if you've written about them somewhere!
Cool data! I’d be curious to know what percent of each category could be described as “indie” (single creator or small team) vs. larger commercial work.
It’s so good to see some analysis around Drive-Thru and what sells there. I have been pretty happily surprised with how diverse the market is there. It’s possible to do quite well with maps, adventures, and full games. Also, really nice to see that there’s room for indie designers too.

Haven’t yet but it’s an article I started work on a week or so ago and will return to when I’m back off holiday
Awesome - You know I love me some Numbers!!💪🏾

I'm actually surprised and delighted to see D&D doesn't completely dominate the top ranks and there's others that are in there and doing their thing!
